California Business & Litigation Counsel · Since 2008 · Jury Trial Attorney
Ari Law has operated continuously as a California litigation firm since December 2008 — through financial crises, market shifts, and a global pandemic — serving businesses, founders, and individuals who needed a trial attorney they could count on. Over that time, the firm has built a documented record in state and federal courts across California, representing both plaintiffs and defendants with the same commitment to preparation, precision, and results. That record was not built overnight. It was earned, matter by matter, over seventeen years.
Most law firms tell you they are different. Here is what that actually means at Ari Law.
Ali Aalaei personally handles every matter at the firm. There is no handoff to a first-year associate after you sign an engagement letter. The attorney you meet is the attorney who appears in court, drafts your motions, and answers your calls.
We offer hourly, flat-fee, and blended arrangements depending on matter type. Before we engage, you will receive a clear written scope and fee estimate — so there are no billing surprises. Startups and small businesses receive the same caliber of work as large corporate clients, without the corresponding overhead.
Ari Law operates a curated stack of legal technology tools — including AI-assisted research, document analysis, and case management — that has been refined over nearly two decades of actual California litigation. Unlike generic AI tools trained on public data, Ari Law's technology platform is informed by real case history, real court outcomes, and real strategic decisions made across hundreds of matters. The result: faster, sharper work at lower cost to the client.
Ali Aalaei is a working jury trial attorney — not just a litigator who settles at the courthouse steps. He has personally served as lead trial counsel before juries in San Francisco, Santa Clara, Los Angeles, and in federal court, obtaining over $10 million in documented verdicts and judgments. Opposing counsel knows this going in — and it changes the negotiation dynamic from day one.
The firm represents both plaintiffs and defendants, which creates a more complete strategic picture. Understanding how the other side thinks — and what arguments are likely to work — comes from having been on both sides of the aisle.
Ari Law was built to operate with precision and purpose — regardless of who is on the other side. A lean, focused structure means the firm does not absorb unnecessary cost from escalation, and clients do not pay for it. That efficiency is a genuine advantage in extended litigation, and it is built into how the firm operates at every level.
Founded and centered in San Jose, the firm has deep familiarity with the technology sector, IP landscape, and business environment of the Bay Area — while regularly handling matters in Los Angeles and statewide. Offices available to meet by appointment in San Jose and San Francisco.
There is an old parable about a snake that bites a saw. The harder it bites, the more it is harmed — while the saw remains unchanged. The lesson is not about aggression. It is about discipline, efficiency, and the cost of unnecessary escalation.
Ari Law was built to be lean and focused by design. When opposing parties escalate — more motions, more discovery, more procedural maneuvering — those costs fall on them and their clients. Ari Law, operating with precision and purpose, does not absorb unnecessary cost in kind. The result is a structural efficiency that benefits our clients at every stage of a matter.
This is not a posture. It is how the firm operates. If you are facing a larger or better-resourced opponent and feel the odds are against you — that assumption is worth examining carefully.
Speak with Ali About Your MatterAri Law was built on precision and efficiency — not volume. That discipline benefits our clients in every matter, at every stage, regardless of who is on the other side.
We focus on a defined set of practice areas where we have real depth — not a broad menu where quality thins out at the edges.
When negotiation fails and going to court becomes necessary, we prepare thoroughly and advocate aggressively — representing both plaintiffs and defendants in state court, federal court, arbitration, and on appeal.
From formation through financing, acquisition, or dispute — we serve as strategic outside counsel to founders, boards, and stakeholders at every phase of an organization's life cycle.
Founded in Silicon Valley, we understand what IP is worth and what infringement costs. We litigate patent, trade secret, trademark, and copyright disputes in federal court.
California's employment laws are among the most complex in the country. We represent both plaintiffs and defendants — employees and employers — across the full range of workplace disputes.
We represent buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, developers, and investors in transactional and disputed real property matters throughout California.
For organizations without in-house legal, we serve as outside general counsel — providing strategic, ongoing legal support at a fraction of what in-house costs.

Represented plaintiff in a legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty action against a practicing attorney and his law firm — one of the most difficult categories of litigation given the professional and evidentiary complexities involved. Represented plaintiff in a real estate dispute involving intentional concealment and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Jury found in favor of plaintiff on all causes of action. Founder & Managing Attorney · Ari Law, P.C. · Jury Trial Attorney
Ali is, first and foremost, a jury trial attorney. He has personally stood before juries in San Francisco, Santa Clara, and Los Angeles County Superior Courts, and in federal court — serving as lead trial counsel on every matter he has tried. Admitted to the California Bar in January 2008, Ali has now practiced for 18 years, and the verdicts on this page reflect that record in the courtroom.
Ali was born in Boston to parents who immigrated from two different continents — Asia and Europe — and met as students in Boston in the late 1970s. He was raised in Boston and later in Texas before coming to the Bay Area as a young attorney. At Suffolk University Law School he was selected to the Law Review, and during law school he gained experience at the City of Boston Law Department and at Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale & Dorr LLP — one of the most prestigious litigation firms in the country — where he was first immersed in high-stakes legal practice. He also served on Capitol Hill with the United States House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce, an experience that broadened his understanding of law, policy, and institutional advocacy. It was during these formative years that Ali developed the interest in corporate law and courtroom litigation that has defined his practice ever since.
After law school, Ali spent a year at a litigation firm in Palo Alto before founding Ari Law, P.C. in December 2008 in San Francisco's Financial District. The firm's earliest clients were the software companies and small businesses that defined that community — and the legal problems they brought, from contracts and IP to partnership disputes and employment matters, established the foundation of the practice.
Ali built the firm from the courthouse up. In the years before e-filing, he was present at the civil counters of the San Francisco Superior Court, filing papers, learning the clerks, understanding how cases moved through the system at every level. That firsthand knowledge of California's courts — accumulated across 18 years of continuous practice — is not something that can be acquired any other way.
Away from the office, Ali is a husband and father of two. He has served as a volunteer coach in the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and has been an active member of the Portola Valley community — serving on the Town's Diversity & Equity Committee and now transitioning to the Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Committee. A former collegiate lacrosse player, Ali brings that same competitive discipline and team-oriented mindset to the practice of law.
His background — spanning continents, Boston, Texas, and the Bay Area — gives him a natural ease connecting with people from every walk of life, which is no small advantage when your case is decided by twelve strangers in a jury box. What distinguishes Ali in the courtroom is not just trial preparation or legal strategy — it is a rare ability to connect: with jurors, with witnesses, with the human story at the center of every dispute. That skill cannot be learned. It is built from a life lived across many places, cultures, and communities.
But underneath all of it — the background, the instincts, the courtroom presence — is something simpler and harder to fake: discipline. The willingness to out-prepare and out-work, every single time. That is what ties everything together. And that is what wins cases. If you have a legal matter that demands that level of commitment, Ali would like to hear from you.
Ali holds professional civility and ethical conduct as values inseparable from effective advocacy. He has maintained candor with tribunals, respect for opposing counsel, and adherence to the highest standards of professional responsibility throughout his career — not because it is required, but because he believes it is the only way to practice law with integrity. In his experience, those values and winning are not in conflict. They are the same thing.
We have streamlined the intake process so you spend your time on your matter, not on paperwork and back-and-forth.
A call with Ali directly. You describe your situation; he tells you candidly whether and how the firm can help, and what it will take to pursue your matter effectively.
If we proceed, you receive a clear written engagement letter describing the scope of work and the fee structure — hourly, flat-fee, or blended — before any work begins. No surprises.
We evaluate every available path — negotiation, demand letter, mediation, arbitration, or litigation — and develop a written strategy. You are kept informed at every step, in plain language.
Whether through settlement, judgment, or ongoing advisory, we pursue the outcome that best serves your interests — and explain any trade-offs honestly along the way.
Ari Law was built specifically to serve clients who cannot justify — or simply should not have to pay — large-firm rates. Depending on your matter, we offer hourly billing, fixed-fee arrangements for discrete projects, and contingency or hybrid structures in appropriate litigation matters. We discuss all of this openly at the initial consultation. There is no charge for that conversation.
Practical guidance on California business law, litigation strategy, and emerging legal issues for founders, operators, and individuals.
Ari Law brings 18 years of California courtroom experience, a documented trial record, and a commitment to professional excellence to every matter it handles. If your situation calls for that level of representation, Ali welcomes the conversation.
